Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances
The Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances (ODAI) prepares, edits, prints, and publicly distributes the District of Columbia Register (DCR), the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations (DCMR) , and other legal publications of the District of Columbia, in accordance with the requirements of the District of Columbia Documents Act of 1978, DC Law 2-319, codified at DC Code §§ 1611 et seq.
The Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances also distributes, tracks, maintains, and preserves all executive orders, directives, and administrative issuances.
Documents We Publish
- The District of Columbia Municipal Regulations (DCMR) is a compilation of the rules and regulations issued by District agencies and the Council of the District of Columbia.
- The District of Columbia Register (DCR) is a weekly publication of the operations of the District's government. The Register publishes:
- Council of the District of Columbia laws, acts, and resolutions
- Notices of the Council of the District of Columbia
- Notices of emergency, proposed, and final regulations (rulemakings)
- Notices of public hearings
- Documents of general public interest
In 2009 the DCMR was re-codified, updated, and digitized in a searchable format. The most up-to-date version of the DCMR is available at this website where you may search for rules, keywords or titles, or browse the titles directly.


Deadline for Submitting Documents for Publication
The deadline for receiving documents from the:

Agencies, Boards, Commissions, and Public Charter schools is TUESDAY, NOON of the SAME week. For example, ODAI publishes a notice received by Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in the Friday January 9, 2009 edition of the D.C. Register.

DC Council is WEDNESDAY, NOON of the SAME week.
If an official District government holiday falls on Monday or a Friday, the deadline for receiving documents remains the same as outlined above.
If an official District government holiday falls on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, the deadline for receiving documents from the:

Agencies, Boards, Commissions, and Public Charter schools is MONDAY, NOON of the SAME week.

DC Council is TUESDAY, NOON of the SAME week.
